Clarissa Rena Oldham and other CU students on missions during summer

A total of 144 students, faculty and staff from Campbellsville University are serving in missions and ministry projects this summer.

The CU Baptist Campus Ministry and School of Theology Ministry and missions projects include 95 members. Students will serve at Springhill Camps, Crossings Camps, Go Tell Camps, LifeWay Centrikid, Week Hope, Camp Schafer, Center for Courageous Kids, LifeWay CentriFuge Camp, Christ in Youth, North American Mission Board, CU Crew, Ghana, Northern Ireland, LifeWay's Mission Fuge, mission trips to Thailand, Haiti Dallas KBC Acts 1:8, and others. Dr. Twyla Hernandez, associate professor of Christian missions, will lead a trip to Cuba June 17-24. She will also visit Chiapas, Mexico July 19-28 with 12 others. Jim Hardy, assistant director of athletics and fields manager, and 31 others will tour Costa Rica July 18-24. Clarissa Rena Oldham of Munfordville, Ky. will be working at LifeWay's MissionFuge.

Other mission projects include: June 17-24 - Cuba trip with Dr. Twyla Hernandez, assistant professor of Christian ministries, visiting center of the Hispanic Baptist Bible Institute in Cuba, as well as attending a graduation of the Contramaestre site. Others traveling with here are her husband, the Rev. Clemente Hernandez; and the Rev. Carlos de la Barra, and his wife;

July 18-24 - CU athletics Costa Rica mission trip with 32 members (list does not include spouses) - Rusty Hollingsworth, director of athletics; Jim Hardy, assistant director of athletics and fields manager; Lorri Hardy, secretary for football, baseball and human performance and part-time assistant cheer coach;

Keith Adkins, head men's basketball coach; Bryan Milburn, men's assistant basketball coach; Brent Vernon, men's assistant basketball coach; Vanessa Atkins, part-time cheerleading coach; Hilary Lakes, head men's and women's cross country coach;

Perry Thomas, head football coach; Hunter Cantwell, assistant football coach; Matt Atwood, assistant football coach; Kenny Lawson, part-time head men's golf coach, and coordinator of transfer recruiting;

Adam Preston, head men's soccer coach; Alex Adams, assistant men's soccer coach; Shannon Wathen, head softball coach; Bryce White, assistant softball coach; Kyle Caven, head men's and women's tennis coach;

Derek Port, head athletic trainer; Scott Baughman, assistant athletic trainer; Tracy Lott, assistant athletic trainer; Meghan Roth, assistant athletic trainer; Randy LeBleu, assistant baseball coach; and Jordan Alves, graduate assistant in the Office of Sports Information;

July 19-28 - Chiapas, 13 members - Dr. Twyla Hernandez, assistant professor of Christian missions; will be leading a team from Campbellsville Baptist Church to do Vacation Bible School at the church where the center of the Hispanic Baptist Bible Institute is located and to attend the graduation of that center.

There are 13 going on the trip including professors Hernandez, Dr. Jeanette Parker, associate professor of psychology and her husband Virgil; Dr. Kimberly Pitts, assistant professor of sociology; Tracy Bruns, director of accounting services, and her daughter, Jilly; Dr. David Johnson, Campbellsville Baptist Church minister of music; and student Alayna Clifton of Portland, Tenn.
