Jacie Thompson to Play trumpet in Orchestra Concert Feb. 14

The Campbellsville University Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. J. Robert Gaddis, dean of the School of Music, and Wansoo Cho, instructor in music, will present a concert featuring Campbellsville University faculty and graduate students on Tuesday, Feb.14 at 8 p.m. in the Ransdell Chapel at 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville.

Jacie Thompson of Lexington, Ky. will play trumpet with the Campbellsville University Orchestra.

The program includes George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" with faculty soloist Dr. William Budai, assistant professor of piano. Also featured will be Juliana Moura, instructor in voice, singing Sergei Rachmaninoff's "Chanson Georgienne, Si, Mi Chiamano Mimi" by Puccini, and "O, Mio Babbino Caro" by Puccini.

Dr. Mark Bradley, professor of music, will join Moura in singing "Bess, You is My Woman Now," also written by Gershwin. Dr. Reese Land, associate professor of music/trumpet, will be featured in the "Concerto for Trumpet" written by famous jazz era trumpeter Harry James.

Sunghye Kim, a graduate flute student of Dr. Lisa McArthur, professor of music, will be soloist for "A Carmen Fantasy" by Francois Borne, taken from the opera "Carmen" written by Bizet.

"This is a wonderful variety of familiar music that will cap off a great Valentine's evening," Gaddis said. "Come and share in the great music and wonderful talent. The program is free and open to the public."
