Leslie Carver gets pinned at CU Carver School of Social Work and Counseling

Dr. Darlene Eastridge, dean, welcomed graduates and their families to Campbellsville University's Carver School of Social Work and Counseling pinning ceremony Dec. 12 in The Gheens Recital Hall.

Leslie Carver of Campbellsville, Ky. was pinned and graduated with a Master in Social Work.

"We prepare Christian servant leaders," said Anne Adcock, assistant professor of social work and director of the CU Somerset Center, "to be more than professionals who do great work. We want them to give of themselves on an even broader scale."

She said CU's Carver School has social work SWITCH (Social Workers in Touch Can Help) clubs on all three campuses where students do volunteer work above and beyond their course work, making considerable contributions to homeless shelters, soup kitchens, foster care agencies and domestic violence abuse shelters.

SWITCH Club students recognized at the pinning ceremony were: Jennifer Reynolds, Lebanon, Ky.; Isaac Wray, Louisville, Ky.; Sarah Alvarez, Russell Springs, Ky.; Donald Branscum, Russell Springs, Ky.; Derrick Chaney, Pine Knott, Ky.; Hanna Dodson, Monticello, Ky.; Rebecca Hammond, Russell Springs, Ky.; Kathy Harness, Science Hill, Ky.; Tanya Spencer-Pittman, Nancy, Ky., and Alisha Williams, Somerset, Ky.

Dr. Jennifer Lanham, assistant professor of social work, and Dr. Japheth Jaoko, associate professor of social work, presented Phi Alpha honors. The students are: Chelsea Humble, Monticello, Ky.; Kelsey Isaacs, Somerset, Ky.; Tiana Nelms, Lexington, Ky.; DeAnna Worley, Somerset, Ky.; Christina Arney, Salem, Ind.; Kathy Harness, Science Hill, Ky.; Donald Branscum, Russell Springs, Ky.; Derrick Chaney, Pine Knott, Ky.; Hanna Dodson, Monticello, Ky.; Gail Dumstorf, Louisville, Ky.; Rebecca Hammond, Russell Springs, Ky.; Andrea King, Louisville, Ky., and Alisha Williams, Somerset, Ky.

Renee Sartin, assistant professor of social work, sang "Take me to the King."
