'Stars in the Rain': Farrah Phillips to lead Campbellsville University Senior Art Exhibition

by Scarlett Birge, student news writer, Office of University Communications

Campbellsville, KY (03/11/2020) — Farrah Phillips, a designer and illustrator and senior of Campbellsville University studying fine art with an emphasis in graphic design, will be hosting her Senior Art Exhibition under the title "Stars in the Rain" from March 16 until March 20 in The Pence-Chowning Art Gallery, 205 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky.

A reception will take place on March 16 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

Phillips grew up playing various sports but over time was unable to practice, opening new ways of expression to her. This caused her "unlikely interest" in art to develop during her senior year of high school, and her desire to pursue this interest into college.

Born and raised in Kentucky, Phillips is a senior from Columbia, Ky. She is in the process of obtaining her bachelor's degree. She is a member of Campbellsville University's chapter of Alpha Chi National College Honor Society, which represents the top 10 percent of students.

She has a variety of job experience such as working as head illustrator for the children's book "Babbott and Babboo" by Michael Crain, a graphic logo designer for Lori Phillips Ceramics, landscape painting at Barn Lot Theater and more. She is trained in working with ceramics and 3-Dimentional design using programs such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and After effects.

Her goal as an artist is to "personally take that which is mundane to most and give it personality," she said. She strives for reinventing everyday items into something that meets the standards of people today. While furthering her skills in the graphic design field, illustration and writing, she hopes to one day move on to bigger projects such as game design, character design and environmental design.
