Bruns named assistant vice president for finance at CU

Campbellsville, KY (03/27/2024) — Campbellsville University has promoted Tracy Bruns to assistant vice president for finance.

Bruns, who has served CU since 2003, will continue in her current role as the university's controller. In her new position, Bruns will serve as the university's chief accounting officer and will be responsible for the accuracy, integrity, timeliness and security of all financial records.

Bruns is in charge of the university's finances in the absence of the chief financial officer.

"There has never been a more exciting time to be a part of Campbellsville University Administration," Bruns said. "With so many new and innovative initiatives in our future, I am honored and humbled to be asked to take a leadership role at a new level.

"I have loved every minute of my 20 years of service at CU, and I am thrilled to play a part in the next chapter here."

At CU, Bruns has worked in the Finance Office and Office of Financial Aid, performing various tasks such as financial statement audit preparation, ensuring tax compliance, supervising student financial accounting, and managing the Federal Perkins Loan program.

Tim Judd, CU's vice president for finances and operations, stated, "Her financial acumen and integrity are respected across campus and in this community. She is exceptional at cross-functional teamwork while ensuring fiscal transparency and stewardship are not compromised."

"As the University seeks to achieve our new strategic plan, Foundations for the Future, this new level of leadership is critical to help the finance team achieve the goals before us."

Judd added that Bruns' has been "critical" during the system conversion to Workday (human resources and financial management system) and "will be essential as we continue to strengthen University finances for the future."

Before joining CU, Bruns worked in accounting at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, serving as an accounting supervisor and director of accounting services. She was a manager at Strothman and Company PSC in Louisville, performing audits and tax work for individual and corporate clients. Additionally, Bruns worked as a senior tax accountant for Arthur Andersen and Company in Houston, Texas, in the company's Oil and Gas Division.

Bruns is a certified public accountant in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Sam Houston State University in 1988.

Her husband, Dr. Eric Bruns, serves as a professor of psychology and consulting psychologist at Campbellsville University. Together, they have two grown children, Alex and Geoff.
