Campbellsville University's Quality Enhancement Plan lecture focuses on the Genetic Modification of Humans

Campbellsville, KY (02/05/2020) — CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Campbellsville University is holding a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) lecture in the Badgett Academic Support Center (BASC) Banquet Hall from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18 as Dr. Ogochukwu Onyiri, assistant professor of biology at the Louisville Education Center, presents "Ethical Decision Making: Genetic modification of humans, what will you do?"

Onyiri said advances in biotechnology introduces "many opportunities to treat human diseases" but also contributes to ethical issues. The presentation aligns with the Quality Enhancement Plan of CU and provides facts and evidence that enable "people to make better informed decisions in the area of bioethics."

Chapel credit will be offered, as well as refreshments. There will also be drawings for gift cards and T-shirts. The Banquet Hall is located at 110 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky.

Onyiri holds bachelor and master's degrees from Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Nigeria. She received her postmaster's studies at Alabama A&M University in environmental science and toxicology, risk management and molecular genetics.

She has published, co-authored, and contributed to many publications such as, "Generalized Growth of Estuarine, Household and Clinical Isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa," "Metabolic profiles of household Pseudomonas species groups" and Environmental Science: Systems and Solutions.

She is married to Dr. Sunny Onyiri, lead professor of PMBA and professor of business and accounting.
