Campbellsville University School of Theology professors to present scholarship papers at Baptist theology conferences this summer
Campbellsville, KY (05/19/2022) — Four professors from the Campbellsville University School of Theology will present their summer scholarship papers at various Baptist theology conferences throughout this summer.
Dr. Twyla Hernandez, professor of Christian missions, will present a paper titled "Decentralized Theological Education for a Post-Pandemic World," at the National Association of Baptist Professors of Religion (NABPR) May 23-25 in Nashville, Tenn.
She presented a paper at the Evangelical Missiological Society regional meeting in March. The paper was titled "Bridgebuilding for Reconciliation between Anglo and Latino Churches."
At the same NABPR conference, Dr. Mike O'Neal, associate professor of theology, will present "Analysis of an Unpublished Paper by Clyde T. Francisco," and Dr. Joe Early Jr., professor of theology, will be presenting a paper titled "How the Catholic Church Defined the Nature, Role, and Purpose of Women in the Twentieth and Twenty-first Centuries."
Drs. O'Neal and Early will also be delivering papers at the Baptist History and Heritage Society conference taking place virtually May 26-27. There, O'Neal will present "Clyde T. Francisco and the Teaching of Evolution," and Early will present a paper titled "Tennessee Baptists and the Scopes Monkey Trial."
At a New Testament conference titled, "Does It Matter Who Wrote the Bible? The Pastoral Implications for Pseudepigraphy and Anonymity in the New Testament," May 19-21 at the Lanier Theological Library in Houston, Texas, Dr. Terry Wilder, professor of New Testament and Greek, will be presenting "A Pauline Theology from Pseudonymous Pastoral Letters."
Wilder was also awarded a grant to do research this summer in Nashville at the Southern Baptist Historical Library & Archives and is planning to research Baptist interpretation of the Pastoral Epistles over the last 175 years.
