Campbellsville University to host prayer emphasis chapel Jan. 25
Campbellsville, KY (01/19/2023) — Campbellsville University will host a prayer emphasis chapel at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 25, in Ransdell Chapel, 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville.
According to Trent Creason, Campbellsville University's campus minister, Campus Ministries and the Center for Global Engagement at Campbellsville will lead the chapel.
"Prayer is vital in every aspect of our lives," Creason said. "Campbellsville University is home to students from all over the globe.
"Our desire is to not only take some intentional time to pray for our campus community and the places our students, faculty and staff call home but to help our campus community be aware of how to continue that prayer effort for the many needs around the world."
Creason said the chapel service will provide everyone with an interactive time to pray for the many places the Campbellsville University community calls home.
"We hope the prayer service will be an opportunity for the CU community to come together to pray for needs of people around the world," Amanda Goforth, director of the Center for Global Engagement, said.
"We will be highlighting the cultures represented on campus and allowing everyone to participate in a variety of prayer-focused activities during the service."
During the service, attendees will visit four interactive tables. At the first table, participants will have the opportunity to leave something they would like someone to pray for and will also take a note that someone has left and pray for what is on that note.
At the second table, participants will take a headline from a news article and pray over that headline.
The third table is titled "I Won't Let the Rocks Cry Out for Me." The table will have rocks depicting countries that are represented on campus. Participants will praise and pray for the events occurring in the lives of those from this country.
The fourth table, "Bringing Light to the Darkness," will highlight poverty worldwide by lighting tea lights.
A table will also be set up in the lobby to allow attendees to leave their answers to the following question on a sticky note: "Why do you pray for others?"
Chapel is designed to provide opportunities for corporate worship and exposure through various informative speakers and presentations.
The public is invited to all chapels this semester.
