CU adds Dusty Snyder as Assistant Vice President for Finance and Controller

by Gerard Flanagan, lead writer and communications specialist, Office of Marketing and Communications

Campbellsville, KY (07/07/2025) — Campbellsville University has added Dusty Snyder as Assistant Vice President for Finance and Controller, returning to the place where he once walked the campus as both a student and later an employee.

In this role, Snyder will serve as the university's chief accounting officer and will be responsible for the accuracy, integrity, timeliness and security of all financial records.

Snyder comes to CU following a 10-year stint at Amazon, most recently serving as senior finance manager, where he oversaw 17 Amazon Distribution Center sites. Within a two-year span at Amazon, Snyder led efforts to deliver $8.8 million in savings through goal-setting and project initiatives. Between 2019 and 2020, Snyder led efforts to drive a seven percent productivity improvement and $1 million in cost savings.

Snyder served at CU from February 2013 to March 2015 as an admissions counselor and director of institutional research. He graduated from CU in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and in 2013 with a Master of Business Administration.

"CU is home to me, as someone who both used to work for the university and received my education here," Snyder said. "As I began to pray about what the next chapter in my career would look like, I felt the Lord challenging me to put my experience and education to use in a role that has a more direct positive impact on the lives of others."

Snyder explained he wants to help CU continue improvements to its budget processes through Workday, a human resource and financial management system, and also add more rigor and review in the area of financial responsibility.

"I'm looking to foster a culture of collaboration between the Finance Office and all areas of campus," Snyder said. "I see my role as someone who can be a force multiplier for those working on the front lines of this University by helping to clarify the financial impact of our decisions so that we can make the best uses of the resources that the Lord has entrusted to us."

CU President Dr. Joseph Hopkins welcomed Snyder into his new role, sharing, "We are exceedingly proud to welcome Dusty Snyder back to this strategic role. He is respected across Taylor County for his rich contributions in financial leadership as well as his commitment to our community."

Dr. Rush Sherman, CU's Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer, said Snyder brings a variety of positive traits and benefits to CU.

"Dusty Snyder's return to Campbellsville University brings not only financial acumen, but a deep institutional memory that few can match," Sherman said. "Having navigated both institutional research and senior-level operations at Amazon, Dusty offers a rare blend of detail-oriented precision and enterprise-level thinking."

Sherman added Snyder will help CU navigate new challenges in today's era of higher education.

"In an era where universities must align strategy with data-driven decision-making, Dusty's leadership will elevate our financial planning and operational insight," Sherman noted. "He understands the story behind the numbers - and more importantly, how to translate that story into strategy, stewardship and strength."

Snyder is a member of Vineyard Church in Campbellsville, where he serves on the finance board and as young adult ministry leader.
