Dr. Joseph Budd receives promotion at Campbellsville University

Campbellsville, KY (06/02/2021) — Dr. Joey Budd has been promoted to associate professor of criminal justice at Campbellsville University.

Budd has been employed since 2018 at Campbellsville University.

Campbellsville University's faculty receive promotion from recommendations by the university's tenure and promotion committee and Administrative Council.

Budd is a veteran of the United States Air Force and law enforcement with a career in higher education with expertise in criminal justice.

Budd graduated from Argosy University in Pittsburgh, Penn. with a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership in May 2014. His dissertation was "An Analysis of Learning Styles of Criminal Justice Students at Three Proprietary Institutions Throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky."

Budd also got his Master of Science in Criminal Justice in May 2005 from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Ga. His thesis was: "An Analysis of Citizen Perceptions and Satisfaction with the Nashville, Georgia, Police Department."

He previously taught as an adjunct instructor for Campbellsville University beginning in January 2016. He taught Juvenile Justice in America and Introduction to Criminology.

Budd was director of academic operations at Brown Mackie College from May 2015 to 2018. He was also legal studies department chair and legal studies senior faculty/acting chair at Brown Mackie.

Budd was an online adjunct instructor at Tiffin University from May 2012 until 2018 and a consultant with Cengage Learning from 2009 to 2012 in Boston.

He has served as a deputy sheriff with the Tift County Sheriff's Office in Tifton, Ga.; Nashville Police Department as an investigator/patrol officer; and captain and parole officer with the Ray City Police Department in Ray City, Ga.

He served in the United States Air Force and Air Force Reserve from 1987 to 2003.

He belongs to the American Criminal Justice Society and the Southern Criminal Justice Association.
