Emily Bronte's 'Wuthering Heights' to be broadcast as radio drama Oct. 30
Campbellsville, KY (10/21/2022) — In 1847, Emily Bronte published her first and only novel, "Wuthering Heights," considered a literary classic more than 170 years after its release.
"Wuthering Heights," which depicts an orphaned boy's failed quest for love, will be broadcast as a radio drama at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30 on WCKQ (Q 104.1).
Presented by Campbellsville University's Department of Theatre and Dance, Town Hall Productions and Taylor County Bank, "Wuthering Heights" tells the story of Heathcliff, an orphaned gypsy boy, who is adopted by the wealthy Earnshaw family and moves into their estate, Wuthering Heights.
Soon thereafter, Heathcliff falls for his foster sister, Cathy, who responds in kind until, due to social convention, she marries Edgar Linton, a man of means.
"Heathcliff vows to win her back, while Cathy's ne'er-do-well alcoholic brother wishes to ruin their lives," the play's synopsis said.
The play's cast is as follows:
Khalil Baker, enrollment counselor and graduate resident manager at Campbellsville University, plays Heathcliff. Jenny Kawa, who does freelance media and theater work, will play Cathy.
Jon Heineman, attorney in Campbellsville, is the play's announcer. Dr. Shawn Williams, professor of political science at Campbellsville University, plays the father and doctor. Sarah Ward, functional nutrition counselor in Campbellsville, plays Isabella.
Chris Gibbs, information technology infrastructure manager at Campbellsville University, is Edgar. Hannah Williamson, a Campbellsville University senior from Munfordville, Ky., has the role of Ellen. Maryn Ward, eighth grader at Taylor County Middle School, plays the role of young Cathy.
Ryan Welch, a Campbellsville university senior from Frankfort, Ky., plays Hindley and young Hindley. Jackson Hayes, ninth grader at Taylor County High School, plays young Heathcliff. Colin Harris, a Campbellsville University sophomore from Campbellsville, Ky., plays a dog.
