by Simon Baker, student news writer, Office of University Communications

Campbellsville, KY (01/23/2024) — Growing up in a musical family in South America from an early age, Rodrigo Rodriguez has become a renowned international superstar, performing all over the world and using his musical talent to serve, praise and worship God.

Rodriguez will speak at 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 31in Randsell Chapel during Campbellsville University weekly chapel service.

Ransdell Chapel is located at 401 N. Hoskins Ave. at Campbellsville University.

Rodriguez, born in Quito, Ecuador, South America, traces his musical roots to a young age. He started playing guitar at the age of nine, and just three years later, he recorded his first long play.

When he was 16, Rodriguez started to travel the world to increase his knowledge in the guitar. He has performed in Venezuela, Spain, France, England and Damascus, Syria. Later, in 1986, he was invited to teach classical guitar by Eastfield College in Mesquite Texas.

"To date, Rodrigo has gone on to record 16 CDs, one recorded with the City of Prague Philharmonic," his biography says. "He has performed at Carnegie (Recital Hall) and has been the Solo Guitarist for numerous orchestras around the world."

He has made concert tours in Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Canada, Czech-Republic, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Guatemala, Scotland, England and throughout the United States.

Thirty-two years ago, in 1992, Rodrigo "found a new direction in his life," his biography notes. He is now privileged to serve the Lord in full-time music ministry, something he says "only comes from having a personal relationship with God."

Chapel is designed to provide opportunities for corporate worship and exposure through a variety of informative speakers and presentations.
