Campbellsville University Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Frank Cheatham has announced the academic honors' list for the fall 2013 semester. The academic honors' list recognizes students who achieve a grade point average of 3.50 or above for the semester with a course load of at least 12 hours. The fall 2013 academic honors' list includes a total of 607 students, with 229 named to the President's List for achieving a 4.0 grade point average, and 378 named to the Dean's List for achieving a 3.5 to 3.99 GPA. Fifty graduates from three allied health programs offered through Campbellsville University's Virginia Ponser Flanagan Technology Training Center were honored in a recent ceremony at Ransdell Chapel.

Campbellsville University had over 140 students visit during the weekend of May 23-24 for the first LINC freshman orientation of the summer. This orientation is designed to help students learn in a new environment, invest in their futures, navigate life changes and connect to Campbellsville. Over 70 Campbellsville University students are spending their summer breaks serving others not only in Kentucky, but across the country and even the world. Several students are serving on mission trips, at church camps, vacation Bible schools, and as interns on church staffs. "Faculty, staff and coaches at CU are dedicated to the premise of encouraging and enabling our students to give of themselves in service to others in the name of Jesus Christ," John Chowning, vice president for church and external relations and executive assistant to the president, said. "Vision 2025-Preparing Christian Servant Leaders, CU's long-term plan, provides an ongoing map for CU's future that places emphasis on preparing a generation of Christian servant leaders who will be world changers for Jesus Christ," he said. Campbellsville University students receiving education degrees were told to "be the best teacher you can be; work at it" by Dr. Frank Cheatham, senior vice president for academic affairs at CU in the School of Education's Pinning Ceremony May 3 in the Russ Mobley Theater. "God has blessed Campbellsville University with the largest number of graduates in the history of the Carver School," Eastridge said, "and very high caliber students in all three of our locations -- Louisville, Campbellsville and Somerset Centers." Campbellsville University graduated 170 master's students and 262 undergraduate students on May 3 and 4, respectively, along with 215 December graduates, for the largest-ever record 647 students receiving their diplomas in the 2012-2013 academic year. Campbellsville University students, staff and faculty members will serve on six different mission trips during spring break, March 4-8. Trips include two to Haiti (one with CU's School of Nursing), two to Florida, one to New York and one to Guatemala. "Much Ado about Nothing," a comedy by William Shakespeare, will be performed by the Campbellsville University Theater department Feb. 21-23 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 24 at 3 p.m. in the Russ Mobley Theater of the Alumni Building, 114 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky. January 2013 will mark a month that many Campbellsville University students will remember for a long time. Campbellsville University made it possible for three groups of students to attend President Barack Obama's second inauguration ceremony. Students attending were from three university clubs: Phi Alpha Theta history honor society, the Sociology Club and the Political Science Club. Campbellsville University students will travel to Washington, D.C. later this week for the 2013 Presidential Inauguration taking place Monday, Jan. 21. The Campbellsville University Concert Chorus will present part one of Mendelssohn's "Elijah" on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 8 p.m. in the sanctuary of Campbellsville Baptist Church, located at 530 North Central Avenue, Campbellsville Ky. Elijah" is a major oratorio by Mendelssohn that tells the story of the biblical character, Elijah, in various historical settings.
