At the most important event of the school year, graduates from Campbellsville University's School of Education were pinned and hooded at a ceremony held at Campbellsville Baptist Church.

Graduates of Campbellsville University's School of Business and Economics were honored with a hooding ceremony on May 8 in the Administration Building on campus.

"It's fair to say that no one really understands what nursing school is all about until you have been through it yourself," Misty Geary, Campbellsville University School of Nursing's class speaker, said recently at a pinning ceremony inside Ransdell Chapel on campus.

"This spring, Carver programs are contributing 51 new graduates to the field that helps people improve their lives," Dr. Darlene Eastridge, dean of Campbellsville University's Carver School of Social Work and Counseling, said during a pinning and hooding ceremony May 8 in The Gheens Recital Hall in the Gosser Fine Arts Center on campus.

Campbellsville University honored students, faculty and staff who have gone above and beyond their calling at the recent annual Honors and Awards Day in Ransdell Chapel. Awards were presented in categories of Special Awards, Academic Awards, Servant Leadership Awards, Honors Graduates, Alpha Chi, Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges and Champions of Character.

Besides attending classes and preparing for a career in music education, Jessica Blakeman is now preparing to represent Campbellsville University in the 2015 Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival by being named this year's CU Valentine's Queen. She won the title on Friday, Feb. 13, in Ransdell Chapel, representing the National Association for Music Education.

Campbellsville University has over 400 new students for the 2015 spring semester.

"This is a special time in your life and in your career that is a whole new chapter in your life," said Dr. Donna Hedgepath, dean of Campbellsville University's School of Education, at the pinning and hooding ceremony Dec. 12 in The Gheens Recital Hall in the Gosser Fine Arts Center on campus.

Dr. Frank Cheatham, senior vice president for academic affairs at Campbellsville University, said he didn't think anyone could be in better hands than those of a Campbellsville University nurse. Cheatham spoke at CU's annual associate degree nursing program pinning ceremony Dec. 11 at Ransdell Chapel.

Dr. Michael V. Carter, president of Campbellsville University, told 210 undergraduate and graduate students in two commencement ceremonies Friday, Dec. 12 in Ransdell Chapel to live by fellowship, leadership and scholarship - words on the university seal.

Campbellsville University had a over 1,000 new students for the 2014 fall semester.

Campbellsville University's Student Government Association officers were among the first students on campus in August, getting organized for action.

Campbellsville University's Summer Education Experience (SEE) helped 14 students from Kentucky, Georgia and South Carolina give a head start on their college career in July.

Campbellsville University's School of Nursing held two large medical clinics and two smaller clinics in Haiti on a mission trip July 23-29.

Campbellsville University's WLCU broadcast service has relaunched its FM radio station as "88.7 The Tiger." The special ceremony took place recently at CU's Tigerville Grille.

The academic honors' list recognizes students who achieve a grade point average of 3.50 or above for the semester with a course load of at least 12 hours. The spring 2014 academic honors' list includes a total of 567 students, with 226 named to the President's List for achieving a 4.0 grade point average, and 341 named to the Dean's List for achieving a 3.5 to 3.99 GPA.

"This is not a rite of passage, but rather an effort earned and successfully achieved by our graduating students," Dr. Darlene Eastridge, dean of Campbellsville University's Carver School of Social Work and Counseling, said during the Carver School of Social Work and Counseling pinning ceremony May 2 in The Gheens Recital Hall in the Gosser Fine Arts Center.

A total of 144 students, faculty and staff from Campbellsville University are serving in missions and ministry projects this summer. Students will serve at Springhill Camps, Crossings Camps, Go Tell Camps, LifeWay Centrikid, Week Hope, Camp Schafer, Center for Courageous Kids, LifeWay CentriFuge Camp, Christ in Youth, North American Mission Board, CU Crew, Ghana, Northern Ireland, LifeWay's Mission Fuge, mission trips to Thailand, Haiti Dallas KBC Acts 1:8, and others.

"When a call comes in, do you want to speak to the doctor in charge or do you want to speak to the nurse who knows what's really going on?" said Dr. Frank Cheatham, senior vice president for academic affairs. This question was poised to the families of the 31 students who were being pinned in a ceremony from Campbellsville University's School of Nursing May 1 at Ransdell Chapel.

CU graduated 152 master's students Friday night, May 2, 2014, in Ransdell Chapel, with 264 graduates Saturday morning, May 3, for a total of 416 students receiving their diplomas upon completion of all academic requirements. In CU's December commencement, 196 received their diplomas for a total of 612 students in this year's graduating class of 2013-2014.

Campbellsville University recognized outstanding faculty, staff, and students during this year's annual Honors and Awards Day ceremony. Awards were given in the following categories: special awards, academic awards, Servant Leadership Awards, honor graduates, Alpha Chi, "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges" and Champions of Character awards. Students who made the president's list and dean's list were also recognized.

Campbellsville University's Pence-Chowning Art Gallery is displaying its annual Juried Student Art Show through Wednesday, April 30. Works of the following were accepted: painting, drawing, photography, ceramics, sculpture, graphic design and other media. The juror for the competition was professional artist Page Candler.

Campbellsville University's School of Theology took 36 students, faculty, family, friends or CU alumni to Israel and Jordan on a Holy Land tour, March 1-11, 2014.
